The United States National Arboretum - Washington, D.C.
April 13, 2009 3:07 pm USAThe National Arboretum is a place to go on your Washington D.C. tourism journey where you can not only enjoy a relaxing stroll but you can see some of the most beautiful gardens anywhere. The staff at the Arboretum works to develop hearty plants that will last longer for florists and their clients. They also work to find new pest control methods and disease control.
When you want to spend some time enjoying your favorite flowers you will be able to indulge yourself with a whole garden of them if you are a fan of the azalea, boxwood, daffodil, daylily, dogwood, holly, magnolia, maple and peony. There are individual gardens of these flowers as well as the major gardens which cover a much wider range of different plants from all over the world.
Since admittance is free to the Arboretum you can go as often as you like. Enjoy a picnic lunch, take a stroll through the gardens, hike the 9.5 miles for your exercise or attend one of the educational programs they put on regularly. The Arboretum grounds are open every day of the year except December 25 from 8 am to 5 pm. Come out and enjoy the beauty just waiting for you to see.
